Symantec has announced a price hike on all SSL Certificates for the Japan Region

Symantec

Symantec® has recently announced that they are increasing the price of their SSL certificates for Japan Domains. As a result, all Japan customers will now have to pay more to secure their website using Symantec® SSL certificates. Symantec® also owns the brands GeoTrust®, RapidSSL®, and Thawte®, so their certificates will be affected as well.

Why is Symantec® raising their SSL prices?

Symantec® says the reason that they are hiking their SSL prices in Japan is to align their brands with the premium offerings in that region. Symantec believes that they can place a premium on their solutions because they are the best in the world.

Symantec’s SSL prices will be affected for…

  1. Any customer whose location is in Japan (Address)
  2. Any customer whose domains ends with ‘.jp’
  3. Any customer whose website that is hosted in Japan.

CheapSSLSecurity is required to comply with this decision from Symantec®. So we have to align our pricing as well for both SSL certificates and code signing certificates. Symantec® has confirmed that the price will be a bit higher but the customer will still get full satisfaction by improved security and support systems.

How we deal with Symantec® customers in Japan

As per the new price, our automated system will identify Japan customers which are affected for price change (based on the above-mentioned conditions) and we will surcharge them a specific amount based on their order and the new price.

If your business is located in Japan and you have any questions about the new Symantec® SSL certificate prices or any other query, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].
