This can be for a number of reasons, everything from a load balancer environment, to a Wildcard or Multi-Domain certificate, even switching hosting providers. In this guide we will cover the basic process behind exporting an SSL Certificate from one server to another.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Assuming you have already installed the SSL Certificate on one machine, this process will break down into three separate steps.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exporting the SSL Certificate<\/li>\n<li>Importing the SSL Certificate<\/li>\n<li>Configuring your Server<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Please note: This set of directions instructs on how to export from the MMC console. You will receive a .pfx file and your private key. It\u2019s crucial that you hold on to these in order to install them on your new server.<\/p>\n<h3>Exporting the SSL Certificate<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Click Start, select <strong>Run<\/strong> and type <strong>MMC<\/strong> into the field. Select <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>File<\/strong>, select <strong>Add\/Remove Snap-In.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Certificates, <\/strong>click <strong>Add<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>Computer account<\/strong>, hit <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Leave <strong>Local Computer<\/strong> selected and click <strong>Finish &gt; OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Now from <strong>MMC\u00a0Console Bar<\/strong>, Click the plus <strong>(+)<\/strong> sign next to <strong>Certificates<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the plus <strong>(+)<\/strong> sign next to the <strong>Personal<\/strong> folder, click <strong>Certificates<\/strong>, right-click on your <strong>SSL Certificate<\/strong>. Select <strong>All Tasks<\/strong>, then click <strong>Export<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Certificate Export Wizard<\/strong> should appear, click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select<strong> Yes, export the private key<\/strong> and press\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Include all certificates in the certification path if possible<\/strong>, click <strong>Next<\/strong>. Make sure to export the <strong>Private key.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select a <strong>password<\/strong>. This will be needed during the import process.<\/li>\n<li>Find a place to <strong>save<\/strong> the .pfx file.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Finish<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Importing the SSL Certificate<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <strong>Start<\/strong>, select <strong>Run<\/strong> and then type <strong>MMC<\/strong> into the field.
